Board Member Max asked if the photo contest and calendar creation was different than
the public grants and funding calendar.

Board Member Olds replied that the public grants and funding calendar was a different
topic than the calendar contest.

Chairperson McDilda noted that the citizen participation items on the work plan are just
examples, but that doesn't mean they all have to be done in the near future.

Board Member Max suggested that the work plan read, "Examples may include:".

Board Member Max stated it is difficult to obtain speakers for April or May.

Board Member Freeburg asked to have his name added beside the work plan bullet item
to, "Coordinate wetland education and awareness seminars and environmental related
speakers".

Board Member aids suggested that the Environmental Expo could be held in the fall
because that is a good time to plant trees. He suggested Ramsey school kids would more
likely be involved at the end of the school year, because there is less opportunity for
working on a project at the beginning of the school year rather than the end of the year.

Board Member Max concurred that it has been a challenge to keep teachers committed to
put in time on their own.

Board Member aids stated this might be a good opportunity to regroup or rethink the
entire Environmental Expo program to make it a city event rather than a school/city
participation event.

Board Member Max stated this would present an opportunity to get scouts involved.

Board Member Max and Board Member Sibilski volunteered to take responsibility for the
residential waste stream management "best practices" for the City work plan item.

Board Member Max volunteered for the "Research, draft and present a 'Tree Bank'
proposal for the City".

Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated this work plan bullet item is already
currently underway because discussion has taken place with people in other cities that
have something similar in place. Coordinator Anderson stated he has looked at their
ordinances but has not put together an amendment yet.

Chairperson McDilda stated his impression of the work plan list was that it is too big and
suggested prioritizing the list.

Board Member Olds stated that the first two bullet points on the work plan are related and
could be combined into one bullet point.

Environmental Policy Board!
