Conse4* <br />• <br />CONSIDER ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO <br />EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH AN EXECUTIVE SEARCH FIRM <br />By: Givonna Reed Kon6, Human Resources Manager <br />Background <br />At the February 6, 2007 Work Session, the City Council interviewed four executive search firms to <br />assist with the recruitment and selection of a new city administrator. The four firms interviewed <br />were Personnel Decisions lntemational; Sathe Executive Search; the Waters Consulting Group; <br />and the Mercer Group. After a lengthy discussion, the City Council decided by consensus to further <br />explore hiring the Waters Consulting Group to assist with the city administrator search. <br />At the Februarys 13, 2007 work session, the City Council discussed amendments to the proposed <br />contract with the Waters Group. (Those amendments will be attached to the Resolution <br />Authorizing Staff to Execute a Contract with an Executive Search Firm after the February 13, <br />2007 work session discussion.) <br />Funding Sources <br />• The Waters Group indicated in its proposal that the cost for a search for a new city <br />administrator would be $18,500, plus up to $10,000 for expenses. <br />The first $20,000 of the search will be paid for from the Miscellaneous Professional Services <br />fund in the A dministrati ve e ve Services budget and the remainder will need to be paid using an <br />alternate funding source, such as the Council Contingency Fund. <br />Recommendation <br />Pending the outcome of the February 13, 2007 work session discussion, staff recommends that the <br />City Council make a motion directing staff to execute a contract with the Waters Consulting Group <br />for executive search services, contingent upon the firm's acceptance of any amendments proposed <br />by the City Council at the February 13, 2007 work session. <br />City Council Action <br />Motion authorizing staff to execute a contract for executive search services with the Waters <br />Consulting Croup, contingent upon the acceptance by the Waters Group of the amendments <br />proposed by the City Council and listed in the addendum attached to the Resolution Authorizing <br />Staff to Execute a Contract with an Executive Search Firm. <br />• <br />
