CHARTER COMMISSION VACANCIES/APPOINTMENTS The City of Ramsey is a Charter City. The City's Charter Commission is made up of nine interested residents who serve for a term of four years. They can then be appointed to another four -year term if they desire, with a maximum of eight consecutive years served. The appointment is done by the ChiefJudge ofthe Tenth Judicial District. The primary objective ofthe Charter Commission is to review and implement changes to the Home Rule Charter of the City of Ramsey. The Commission meets quarterly (or as needed) on the third Thursday of the month, at 7:00 p.m., at the Ramsey Municipal Center. In May 2001, the Charter Commission will have four vacancies. The City accepted applications to fill these vacancies until February 28, 2001; however, State Statutes allows an interested resident to apply directly to the ChiefJudge for appointment. The address to send a letter of interest to is as follows: The Honorable Joseph Quinn ChiefJudge Tenth Judicial District Anoka County Courthouse 325 East Main Street Anoka, Minnesota 55303 TEMPORARY SUMMER PARK POSITIONS AVAILABLE The City of Ramsey is accepting applications for temporary park positions for various park work including general maintenance of park grounds. Must have valid driver's license with good driving record. Applicants should be available for work as early as April or May, Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week; 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Opportunity exists to work four 10 -hour days per week. Experience in maintenance type work desired, however landscape and equipment operation training provided as needed. Salary: $8.00 to $12.00 per hour, depending on park- related qualifications. RAMSEY FIRE STATION #2 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE As many of you drive by the construction site ofthe new Fire Station #2, you may have or continue to wonder "what is taking so long ?" The following is a brief history ofthe construction project. Groundbreaking was in mid - April. Construction actually started sometime after that. Unfortunately this was also the time material problems began to surface. Structural steel for the project has been the single biggest delay in the project. The delay affected the timeline by approximately 3 months. As of February 1" the building is progressing steadily. Some outside aluminum paneling remains to be installed, along with mechanical and electrical work on the inside. Landscaping will obviously be completed in the spring. As a City, we are looking forward to a completion date around the end of February or the beginning of March. Look for an open house celebration when the snow melts.
