CITY NEWSLETTER JULY/AUGUST, VOLUME 16, NO. 5
ATTENTION:
CITY WATER CUSTOMERS
ODD/EVEN DAY SPRINKLING BAN
Water demand for irrigation on warm days can be as much as
three to four times the average amount used throughout the year. To reduce
peak water usage in areas served by the municipal water system, the City
of Ramsey has implemented an odd/even day sprinkling ban, pursuant to
City Code 4.40.06 subd. 10.
You may water on odd numbered days if your address ends in an
odd number, and on even numbered days if your address ends in an even
number.
The sprinkling restriction includes no watering between 10:00
a.m. and 8:00 p.m. since a significant amount of water is lost due to
evaporation during the hot portions of the day. Homeowners with
automated systems are strongly encouraged to program them to operate
after 10:00 p.m. This minimizes evaporation and lessens peak demand on
the system.
Newly seeded or sodded lawns are exempt from the odd /even
requirement during the two -week establishment period. However, the
10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ban still applies.
Hopefully, we will not experience any drought periods, which would
require a total ban. If the City is forced to call for a temporary, total ban,
you will be notified by a special notice.
As a reminder, odd /even watering restrictions
are normally in place as of May 17.
The odd /even watering restrictions, including the 10:00 a.m.
to 8:00 p.m. watering ban will be strictly enforced from
Tuesday, July 10, until Tuesday September 7.
Ramsey is noted for its wetlands and rivers, but our ground water
is a finite resource. And this is where we draw City water from for drinking,
sprinkling lawns and gardens, fire protection, and other water uses. So is
easy to understand that water conservation is in everyone's best interest.
We appreciate your anticipated cooperation so that we may
continue to provide you with safe, drinkable water at the least possible
cost. Additional information on irrigation efficiency is available at City Hall
upon request.
IT S PARADE TIME !
The City of Ramsey and the
Ramsey Happy Days Festival
Committee want you to enter the
Ramsey Happy Days Festival Parade.
Your civic or commercial organization
can be part of the parade.
