12
RAMSEY LIONS
PRESIDENTS
MESSAGE
As I write this message, we are halfway
through the month of June. This also means that my
term as president will be over at the end of this month.
It has been a busy but satisfying year with all the club
members sharing in the different activities we put on
this year. We made a lot of financial donations back
into our community. We also added five new
members.
The Annual Ramsey Picnic we sponsored
was held on Saturday, June 2 It was a huge success
and everyone had a good time. The entertainment
was well received with everyone enjoying the Lamont
Cranston Band. Lots of our Ramsey children were
imprinted with the Compu -Kid Lazer Identification
Kit we purchased for the Police Department. The
parents were given these discs to keep for future
identification.
A special thank you to all the Ramsey groups
who helped us put on this picnic. They included the
Ramsey Seniors, residents at Savannah Oaks, the
Ramsey Boy Scouts, and the Ramsey Cub Scouts.
Their help was very much appreciated and was a
reason for the success of this year's picnic.
The memorial plaque we purchased has been
installed along with the flagpole at Savannah Oaks
senior building. This is a tribute to all our veterans.
Special thanks to Barb and Dale McKusick who not
only sanded, painted and set the flag pole, but also
formed and poured the monument and installed the
plaque. Good job, Barb and Dale!
The club will have a booth at Riverfest this
year along with the Fire Department so look for us
selling our special pork chops and sweet corn. In
August we are selling beer at the Nowthen Threshing
show and in September we will be involved with the
Ramsey Happy Days, selling food and having a float
in the parade.
With the upcoming busy summer, I want to
wish the new president, Lion Dan Goepfert, and his
cabinet a continued successful year. Remember, we
meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month
at Superbowl in Ramsey at 7:30 p.m. We invite
residents to stop by and to get involved with our club.
President Bill Weiss
Be kind to unkind people
RASMEY WOMEN OF TODAY
By Julie Hammel
The Ramsey Women of Today thank the residents of
Ramsey for their generous support of our programs and events
during the past year. If it were not for the community support of
our events like the Children's Halloween Party, Craft Show,
and Bunny Munch we would not be able to provide the additional
monies needed by other community service organizations in our
area. This year we were able to donate $3,856 back into the
community via donations for program support, educational
programs, family assistance, and scholarship. We look forward
to continuing this effort and increasing our involvement in the
future.
The Ramsey Women of Today congratulate Nicole
Trombley for being the 2001 recipient of our scholarship.
