RYAA is not run by
the City itself, rather an independent non -paid volunteer board of directors.
Also, all coaches, assistant coaches, individual sport directors, and other
coordinators are volunteers. RYAA offers Baseball, Basketball, Softball, Football,
Recreational Soccer and Traveling Soccer to the youth of Ramsey and surrounding
communities. NLS stands for "Northern Lights Soccer Club." NLS is the club
name used in association with Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).
MYSA is the governing body for youth soccer in the state of Minnesota and
they require a club name for all competitive soccer organizations. Over the last
4 years the NLS name has been used as a primary identification for Ryaa's
traveling (competitive) soccer teams. To make a long story short ... RYAA
soccer is recreational soccer and NLS soccer is traveling soccer, but they both
operate under Ramsey Youth Athletic Association's umbrella of sports.
Upcoming Events:
This spring Northern Lights Soccer Club will be offering Goalkeeper
Development Clinics for youth soccer players ranging in age from 5 to 15.
These clinics will be put on by State certified coaches from MYSA. Also, NLS
will be teaming up with the North Metro Soccer Association and the State
Referee Association to offer referee certification and re- certification clinics.
Clinics will be held at Oakview Middle School in Andover on March 16th and
23
Day one is for recreational soccer referees, day two is for currently
licensed referees needing re- certification and both days are necessary for
competitive soccer referees. Fees are $10 for the facility usage and an additional
fee TBD for the license. We are in need of older youths or adults to be certified
for competitive soccer games due to our program growing faster than our referee
pool. Call the RYAA hotline at 763 - 422 -9555 or visit our website at http: //
www.ryaa.org for registration and class information as well as the updated fee
schedule.
Ramsey Resident
Ramsey Municipal Center
15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW
Ramsey, MN 55303
PRSORT STD
U.S. POSTAGE PAID
ANOKA, MN
55303
PERMIT NO. 131
POSTAL CUSTOMER
