CITY NEWSLETTER <br />NOTICE OF FILING FOR THE <br />2002 ELECTIONS <br />City of Ramsey, <br />Anoka County, Minnesota <br />Notice is hereby given that a primary election on <br />Tuesday, September 10, 2002 and a general election on <br />Tuesday, November 5, 2002 will be held in the City of <br />Ramsey for the purpose of electing candidates for the offices <br />listed below. The filing period for these offices begins at <br />8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2002 and ends at 5:00 p.m. <br />on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. <br />Candidates for the following offices file with the City <br />Clerk, City of Ramsey, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, <br />Ramsey, MN 55303. A filing fee of $5 will be charged. <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />Two at -large City Council Seats <br />One Council Seat in Ward 1 <br />One Council Seat in Ward 2 <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />SELECTS NEW LoGo!! <br />The City Council has selected a new logo for <br />Ramsey. You will start to see the new logo used in our <br />correspondence, future newsletters, as well as in the new <br />website. The new logo, with the cattails theme, reflects the <br />natural environment that is so abundant in Ramsey. <br />July /AUGUST 2002, VOLUME 17, No. 4 <br />2002 GENERAL ELECTION CHANGES <br />During the November 7, 2000 election Ramsey <br />voters voted to amend the City Charter and increase the <br />number of Council members from four to six. The <br />amendment becomes effective November 2002. During <br />the November 5, 2002 election, four Council members will <br />be elected. <br />During the November 6, 2001 election Ramsey <br />voters voted to amend the City Charter to require that four <br />Council members be elected from wards and two elected <br />at large, which will become effective for the 2002 election. <br />During that election the voters also voted to amend the City <br />Charter to require a primary election for the selection of <br />two nominees for each elective office at the regular municipal <br />election, unless two nominees or fewer file for each elective <br />office. The primary election will be held on September 10, <br />2002. <br />The City of Ramsey is seeking Election Judges for <br />the 2002 election. Users can view and download documents <br />as well as subscribe to receive e -mail updates when new <br />council minutes, agendas or employment opportunities are <br />available.
