AHS is
one of only 12 high schools in the U.S.
to be invited to the Festival!
Violet was the winner of the 1996-
1997 New York Drama Critics Circle
Award for Best Musical. The show traces
a young woman's journey across the
American South in 1964 in search of a
miracle cure for a disfiguring facial scar. The
play offers a mix of Southern music,
including gospel, country, pop, and the
blues, as it explores miracles, faith, healing,
and the power of love.
In addition, the Theater
Department will present a variety show,
Reflections, which will highlight some of
the best musical and dance numbers
from director Kent Knutson's 12 years
at Anoka High School. This show will
feature the talents of current and former
AHS students.
Proceeds from these shows will help
finance the trip to Scotland. Come celebrate
their success and wish them well as they
represent our community, our state, and our
nation at the Fringe Festival in Scotland!
Show Times:
Violet - July 26 & 27
and August 1, 2, & 3
Reflections - July 29 & 30
All shows are at 7:30 at Anoka
High School. For tickets, call 763 -506-
6439 or visit www.anokatheatre.com.
RAMSEY LIONS
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Ramsey Lions sponsor several college scholarship programs.
For Ramsey residents currently enrolled in undergraduate programs at an
accredited school, approximately 10 such scholarships were awarded in
2001. Please obtain an application from any Ramsey Lions Club member
or Bill Weiss Insurance Agency, 5926 167th Av. NW, Ramsey, Ph: 763-
753 -5903. An official grade transcript is required as part of the application
and the application is due August 31. Please note that while the Lions sponsor
the scholarships, the awards are made by an independent scholarship
committee. Awards vary from year to year and students are encouraged to
apply each year.
The Ramsey Lions sponsor separate scholarships for high school
seniors planning on higher education. Anoka High School and Elk River
Area High School determine which students receive these scholarships.
Each school awarded two $750 scholarships this spring. Students should
apply to their school during their senior year.
The Lions also sponsor scholarships at Anoka-Hennepin Technical
College and Anoka- Ramsey Community College. Ramsey residents
attending either of these schools should apply to their schoo directly.
RAMSEY LIONS
COMMUNITY PICNIC
THANK YOU
CONGRATULATIONS
CLASS OF 2002!
Punctuality is disappointing if no one is there to appreciate it. — Anonymous
The Ramsey Lions would like to thank the many groups and
individuals that made this years community picnic a great event.
