ADULT SAFETY CAMP 2002 As part of our effort to reduce fire injuries, fatalities, and property loss within our community, the City of Ramsey Fire Department is looking for adults that would be interested in attending a one -day camp that will focus on fire safety issues. The class will be held during Fire Prevention week on Saturday, October 12th from 9 AM — 2 PM at Fire Station 2 located at 15050 Armstrong Blvd. The cost for the event will be $10.00 per adult and that will include the classes and lunch. Fire officials from the fire department will discuss fire safety issues with you such as fire escape planning for your home, how to properly check your smoke detector, what to do in the event of a fire, how to reduce your risk of a fire, juvenile firesetter intervention, what firefighters do when they respond to your home or business, and more. You will also be able to sit in the fire trucks to get a view as to what they see and feel when they are responding to a fire and answer questions as to what you should do if an emergency vehicle approaches you on the road. After you are trained on how to correctly operate a fire extinguisher, you will be able to actually put out a controlled fire with one to see what you have learned. We will also discuss what we teach your children at school in order for you to assist them with what they have learned. Statistics show that over 83% of all fire fatalities that occur in the USA occur in a residence. This means the place you feel the safest could be the most dangerous should a fire occur. FALL WATERMAIN FLUSHING IN OCTOBER YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! RAMSEY TOWN CENTER TASK FORCE 7 The Public Works Department will be doing their semi - annual flushing of watermains and hydrants beginning Monday, October 14th through Friday, October 25th. Please be aware that this flushing, while it is necessary, will create a disturbance in the system and may cause your water to be discolored. Although the water may be discolored by rust, it is fit for human consumption but it may stain clothes that are being washed. To alleviate this problem, you may want to fill your washer with water and check on its clarity before adding your clothes. We appreciate your patience and regret any inconvienence that this may cause. Local government is the form of government that is closest to the citizen. It's a place where your voice is easily heard. You now have an opportunity to directly influence your city's future development and growth by serving as a commission member. The City of Ramsey is looking for residents who are interested in participating in the development and governance of their community. There is currently one (1) seat open on the Planning Commission. In order to be considered for a seat on this commission, please submit a letter of interest to the Assistant City Administrator, Ramsey City Hall, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW, Ramsey, MN 55303, by Friday, September 13th, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. The City of Ramsey has an opening for an interested resident to serve on the Ramsey Town Center Task Force. The Task Force was created to help coordinate and review the development of a Town Center in Ramsey. The Town Center Task Force meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. To be considered for appointment to the Town Center Task Force, residents should submit a letter of interest to Patrick Trudgeon, Principal Planner, 15153 Nowthen Blvd., Ramsey, MN 55303 or via email at ptrudgeon@,ci.ramsey.mn.us by September 25, 2002.
