<br />6 <br /> <br />MAILBOX <br />REPLACEMENT POLICY <br /> <br />Mailboxes installed and maintained to City u.s. Post Office <br />regulations which are damaged as a result of direct contact by City <br />snow removal equipment will be temporarily repaired within 48 hours <br />of receiving notification of such damage. If the mailbox cannot be <br />temporarily repaired, a portable mailbox will be set in place so mail <br />service will be continued. The City will replace the damaged mailbox <br />structure the following spring with a standard No.1 blacl<, white, or <br />silver mailbox mounted on 4-by 4-inch treated post. <br />Residents whose mailboxes are Imocl<ed down as a result of <br />direct contact by City snow removal equipment may request $75 <br />allowances, if they so choose, to replace the mailbox structures <br />themselves, relieving the City of any further obligation. In such cases, <br />the City will provide portable, temporary mailboxes until the following <br />spnng. <br />Mailboxes, which are not installed to City and u.s. Post Office <br />regulations or are damaged due to snow deposited from plows (versus <br />being hit by City snow removal equipment), will not be replaced. The <br />City is not responsible for damage to media or paper boxes and will <br />not repair them. <br /> <br />BOULEVARD <br />STAKING POLICY <br /> <br />City of Ramsey policy prohibits the use of metal fence posts <br />and other non-breal<away materials in the public right of way. City <br />staff will remove materials that pose a threat to public safety or interfere <br />with maintenance operations. Wooden lathe are available in limited <br />quantities at City Hall for use in marlcing the boulevard for snow removal <br />purposes. Small fiberglass poles and aluminum poles with reflectors <br />may also be used, but will be the responsibility of the homeowner to <br />maintain. <br />The purpose of the policy is to remove stalcing from the public <br />right of way that causes an unnecessary threat to public safety and <br />which hinders snow removal operations. <br /> <br />COMMUNITY ACTIVITY SIGN <br /> <br />If you are interested in renting space on the Community Activities <br />sign at the Ramsey Municipal Center, please call Kathy Schmitz at 763- <br />433-9844. <br /> <br />2002 FALL <br />RECYCLING DAY RECAP <br /> <br />The Fall Recycling Day was a great <br />success with 180 residents in attendance! The <br />rain held off just long enough to l<eep everyone <br />dry throughout the event. Staff was busy assisting <br />residents in the collection of the following <br />materials: <br /> <br />Appliances 105 units <br />Scrap Metal 3.41 tons <br />Aluminum Cans and Newspaper 1 ton <br />Tires (passenger and Trucl<) 178 units <br />Steel Rims .69 tons <br />Furniture Donations 1.14 tons <br />Fluorescent Bulbs 309 units <br />Computer Monitors 23 units <br />TVs .1 tons <br />Electronics/Power Supplies .16 tons <br />Batteries .16 tons <br /> <br />Thanl< you to those residents who <br />participated in the Fall Recycle Day and at times <br />may have waited in line for a considerable amount <br />of time. If you were unable to attend the Fall <br />Recycle Day, the City will host a Spring Recycle <br />Day on May 3, 2003 from 8:00am -12:00pm at <br />the PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY located at <br />14100 Jaspar Street. <br />The City of Ramsey's Recycling Program <br />also includes curbside picl<-up of aluminum cans, <br />newspaper and various plastic products. ACE <br />Solid Waste Inc. is contracted by the City to picl< <br />up residential recycling every other Monday. <br />Please contact ACE Solid Waste at (763) 427- <br />3110 to find out what Monday your curbside <br />recycling is picl<ed up.
