Car keys left at home (or at your business) should always <br />be hidden. This will help prevent the theft of your vehicle <br />if you are burglarized. <br />13. There are locks made for various marketable parts of <br />cars. Install a locking gas tank cap to help prevent gasoline <br />theft and limit a thief's driving range to one tanl(. <br />15. Parl( the front wheel turned sharply to the right or left, <br />making it difficult for the professional thief to tow your <br />car away backwards. <br />16. With front wheel drive cars: When you park pull on the <br />emergency brake and place your vehicle in Parl(. If you <br />have a stick shift, pull on the emergency brake and shift <br />into forward or reverse gear. All four wheels will be locked, <br />making it difficult for a thief to tow your car. <br />17. Call 911 as soon as theft occurs. <br /> <br />SUMMER READING FUN <br />AT THE ANOKA COUNTY LIBRARIES <br /> <br />Children from pre-school through grade 5 are invited to <br />be a part of "Explore Bright Ideas at Your Library", the 2003 <br />summer reading fun at the Anoka County Library. The fun starts <br />Monday, June 2 and continues through Saturday, August 30. Come <br />to any Anol(a County Library during summer vacation and sign <br />up. Each child will receive a membership pin, a boolrmarl( and a <br />reading record. <br />Any child who reads 5 bool(s during the summer will <br />receive a free pass to Bunker Beach. All children who fill out <br />their reading record completely will receive a certificate and a <br />ticket into a drawing that will be held on September 2. <br />A summer reading program for teens, "Wise up! at Your <br />Library" is also offered this year. Fun activities and prizes will be <br />available. <br />In 2002 over 9500 children and teens participated in both <br />programs. The Anol(a-Hennepin School <br />Readiness Preschool Program offers classes for 3 year <br />olds and 4-5 year olds at the Ramsey Preschool, 6010 <br />167th Avenue NW. Preschool classes are held two or <br />three days a week with a choice of morning or <br />afternoon sessions. The preschool year runs from <br />September through May. Registrations are now being <br />accepted for the 2003-04 year. <br />School Readiness Preschool classes are <br />designed to help children make new friends, become <br />enthusiastic learners, and prepare for l(indergarten. The <br />daily schedule offers large and small group activities, <br />choice time at learning centers and snack time. <br />Children must be at least three years old, on or <br />before September 1, 2003. Parents provide <br />transportation to preschool. Fee assistance is available <br />based on family size and income. For more information <br />call (763) 506-7650. <br /> <br />ANOKA HIGH SCHOOL <br />LAB PRESCHOOL <br />2003-04 REGISTRATION <br /> <br /> <br />Anoka High School, located at 3939 - 7th <br />Avenue N. in Anol(a, is accepting registrations for the <br />2003 - 04 school year. We enroll 4 & 5 year old children. <br />Your child does NOT have to be 4 years old by <br />September 1 st to participate. Late starts are available <br />if openings exist. Preschool classes are held on <br />Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays weel(ly from 8: 15 <br />- 10:30 a.m. <br />Our high school students enrolled in Child <br />Development and Child Care Occupations courses are <br />incorporated in the program. Students get hands-on <br />experience with actual children, reinforcing their <br />classroom learning. We are able to offer a higher adult <br />to child ratio because of their participation, and the <br />children love the student teachers! <br />We offer a balance of child-initiated and <br />teacher-directed activities, building on sl(ills that the <br />children need for kindergarten.
