That means it would be virtually
impossible to provide current levels of services, build new or
replace old infrastructure, to replace cut funds or raise new
money for projects and services.
Here in the City of Ramsey, we are projected to lose
$477,968 in state shared revenues during 2003, and $764,986
during 2004. That's equal to 11.3 percent of our general fund
which is used to pay for city services including police, fire,
parl<s and recreation, and more.
In addition, levy limits and restrictions on debt - or the
ability of the city to issue bonds to pay for projects such as
sewer upgrades, new infrastructure or redevelopment, and
major street projects - could mean our City puts on hold or
eliminates proj ects to move forward with Ramsey town Center
and other road, transportation, parl< and trail improvements.
Here in the City of Ramsey, we are carefully loolang at
the way we provide services to residents and businesses, and
how the proposals will impact the quality of life in our
community.
The City is considering the following steps to prepare:

· Reducing maintenance of parl<s
. Delaying hiring additional firefighters
· Reducing plowing after snow events
· Delaying some public improvements to streets and parl<s
· Reducing funding that supports community events such
as Happy Days, Safety Camp, and National Night Out

The City is striving to find ways to continue providing
the quality of life our residents expect. The implications of
these proposals, however, are tremendous.
We hope to worl< with residents and business owners
to continue mal<ing the City of Ramsey a great place to live,
even in these difficult times. If you have questions or comments,
please contact City Hall at 763-427-1410.

Life is what happens to you while you're busy n:zaking other plans. - John Lennon
