DOLLARS INTO SENSE CLASSES 13 Anol(a County Extension Service Staff and Dollar Works Volunteers will present Free Dollars Into Sense classes on November 18 and December 16, 10:00 a.m. at the Bunker Hills Activities Center (550 Bunker Lal(e Blvd, Andover) and again at 7:00 p.m. at the N orthtown Library (711 County Rd 10 NE, Blaine). To register, call the University of Minnesota Extension Service, Anoka County, at 763-755- 1280 at least three days prior to the class you wish to attend. Classes will cover budgeting and address credit issues, tracl(ing expenses, making a spending plan, goal setting and how to get help. MINNESOTA GARDENING 2004 CALENDAR Now AVAILALBE The University of Minnesota Extension Service and Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station have released Minnesota Gardening 2004 - a calendar developed for home gardening and landscape enthu- siasts across the state. Minnesota Gardening 2004 is the only calen- dar designed and written exclusively for Minnesota. It is the perfect complement to any gardener's collection. Each month, in addition to the full-page color photo, the calen- dar features timely tips for lawn, garden and houseplant care, as well as useful titles of related Extension publications. Maps of average frost- free dates and USDA Plant Hardiness Zones for Minnesota are also included. A special highlight in the 2004 calendar is a page on growing fruit trees. The calendar is 12" x 9" and is spiral bound. Minnesota Gardening 2004 is available at the Anoka County Extension Service. The price is $12.00 per calendar. Individuals inter- ested in purchasing the calendar can stop by the Extension office at 550 Bunker Lake Blvd NW, Andover or call the office at 763-755-1280. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PROJECT BOOKSHELF The Anoka County Library will once again sponsor Project Bookshelf. Donations will be accepted during the month of November. You are invited to share the fun and magic of books with children in Anoka County who would not otherwise receive a new bool( during the upcoming holiday season. Donations of NEW and unwrapped books for children or young adults may be brought to any Anoka County Library, to the Anol(a County History Center or the Columbia Heights Public Library. Donations will be accepted at those locations from November 1 until November 30. All books will be given to the Anoka County Brotherhood Council (A.C.B.C.) or to the Southern Anoka County Assistance program (S.A.C.A.). Those organizations are responsible for getting the books into the hands of needy kids. The fun and the magic of books and reading lasts a lifetime! Share the thrill of the holiday season by adding children's and young adult books to your shopping list and donating them to Project Bookshelf! 2004 CITY BUDGET PREPARED PUBLIC HEARING DECEMBER 1ST The 2004 proposed budget was reviewed by the City Council at several worl(shops and meetings in August and September, and on September 9th the City Council approved the maximum 2004 City Tax Levy and General Fund Budget. The levy, as approved, would decrease the City's tax rate by approximately 2 percent over the 2003 rate. This means that if your property value, as determined by the County Assessor, did not increase, your 2004 City property tax will decrease by approximately 2 percent (City share only). Keep in mind that if your property value increased for taxes payable in 2004, your tax will increase more due to the increase in assessed value. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING To WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Notice is hereby given that the Ramsey City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, December 1, 2003, at 6:00 p.m., at Ramsey Fire Station, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, MN 55303. The purpose of the hearing is to consider the City of Ramsey's 2004 budget and the amount of property taxes it is proposing to collect to pay for the costs of services the City will provide in 2004. All interested persons are invited to attend the hearing and comment. The City of Ramsey complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and, upon advance request, information will be provided in an alternative form and interpreters will be available. Any person with such a request should contact City Clerk, Jo Thieling at (763) 427-1410 by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26,2003.
