The master-planned community project received a category
award for best in "community impact."
Each year, The Business Journal's Best in Real Estate project provides
a snapshot of the Twin Cities' real estate trends. The publication wrote, "None
of these proj ects would ever have broken ground if not for the involvement of the
public-another of this year's trends. In Ramsey, citizens and public officials
shared their desires for a traditional downtown in their community. The result is
the vast Ramsey Town Center-322 acres that will include entertainment, housing
and retail." The award winners were selected by a panel of eight real estate
experts. The judges reviewed 59 nominations in 10 categories to reach consensus.
To be eligible, the projects had to have brol(en ground in 2003.
"This recognition is a great complement to everyone's genuine
commitment to creating an incredible sense of place and community for Ramsey
from the city to the citizens to our team," said John Feges, President of Ramsey
Town Center, L.L.C.
This is the second significant award the project has won. The first award
was received in November 2003 from The Minnesota Chapter of the American
Institute of Architects (AlA).
Created to fulfill the vision of Ramsey residents, the new downtown for
Ramsey will include places to live, acres of parks and open spaces, gathering
places to join with family and friends, shopping, eating, professional business
services, entertainment, the arts, strolling and more. A range of tenants will call
the Town Center home, from convenience shopping destinations to retail and
grocery stores.
The first tenants named at groundbreal(ing last October included Allina
medical clinic, Community National Banl(, Crest View Senior Communities and
Pact Charter School. D.R. Horton and Norgaard Construction have been named
to the Builder's Guild for residential construction. Overall site preparation is
underway and construction has begun on the PACT Charter School and more
than 900 of the 2,400 homes that will be part of the final project.
Ramsey Town Center, L.L.C. is a privately owned development
corporation headquartered in Minneapolis, MN.
