3 RAMSEyKm'S SAFETY CAMP JULY 20TH & 21ST Registration forms for the 3rd annual Ramsey Kid's Safety Camp are now available at the Police Department, City Hall, and on the web at www.ci.ramsey.mn.us. Eligible campers are youth entering 3rd and 4th grades in the Fall of2004 (current 2nd and 3rd graders). Entering 5th graders will have an opportunity to attend the camp if there are available spaces. The camp is limited to 120 children and will be filled on a first come basis. Camp is held at the Boy Scout Camp, located off of Hwy 47. There is a $25 registration fee that includes: Two days of adult supervision; activities, supplies, lunches, snacks and beverages; bil(e helmet and fitting; Safety Camp t-shirt and hat; and a family BBQ and awards ceremony. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT (NNO) TUESDAY, AUGUST 3,2004 On the evening of Tuesday, August 3rd 2004, from approximately 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. the entire nation will be celebrating National Night Out. Police officers, fire fighters and city officials will be out visiting neighborhoods. There will be numerous neighborhood parties ranging from dessert parties to contests. National Night Out is designed to: . Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. . Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs. . Strengthen neighborhood and police community partnerships. . Send a message to criminals letting them lmow that neighborhoods are organized and fighting bacl(. If you would lil(e to host a blocl( party and be included in visits from the police and fire departments, you can request a registration form by calling (763) 427-6812 or on the web at www.ci.ramsey.mn.us/ departments/police/NNO.asp. Registration forms are due by July 27th. After your registration has been received, you will receive specific planning information for your event. New registrants will receive FREE picnic packs for their event this year! We will also have new and exciting contests for everyone to participate in and enjoy! SIREN OBSERVERS NEEDED The Ramsey Police Department needs volunteers to monitor and report on the performance of the City's 17 storm alert sirens the first Wednesday of every month at 1 :00 p.m.. Although computers monitor the sirens electronically (called a silent test), this system is not as accurate as an actual observation of the siren's response to the coded alert signal. Volunteers watch and listen to each siren on the monthly test date, then report to the Police Department what was seen and heard at their sites. This, coupled with the electronic computer testing each weel(, ensures that the sirens will worl( in a real emergency.
