4

ATTENTION:
CITY WATER
CUSTOMERS
ODD/EVEN DAY
SPRINKLING BAN

RAMSEY CITY RESIDENTS
SOUGHT To SERVE ON
THE OFFICIAL MAP
BOARD OF ApPEALS

To reduce peak water usage
in areas served by the municipal
water system, the City of Ramsey
has implemented an odd/even day
sprinkling ban, pursuant to City Code
4.40.06 subd. 10. The sprinkling ban
will be in effect from Memorial day
until after Labor Day.
Residents may water on odd
numbered days if their address ends
in an odd number, and on even
numbered days if their address ends
in an even number.
The sprinl(ling restriction
includes no watering between
10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. since a
significant amount of water is lost due
to evaporation during the warmest
portions of the day. Homeowners
with automated systems are strongly
encouraged to program them to
operate after 10:00 p.m. This
minimizes evaporation and lessens
peal( demand on the system.
In addition to the residential
sprinkling ban, the City is in the
process of implementing an irrigation
policy that is specific to multifamily
residential and commercial
connections to the municipal water
supply that requires that:
. All irrigation systems must
install an approved backflow
device
. All irrigation systems must
include a Rain Sensor device
to prevent irrigation systems
from operating during rain
events.

Please help us manage
water usage by abiding by the
sprinl(ing ban.

The City recently determined that the properties lying between Highway
10 and Burlington Railroad tracl(s, from the Ramsey/ Anoka border to Armstrong
Blvd. N.W., are integral to the future improvement of the U.S. Highway 10
transportation system. These properties were identified on an Official Map and
rezoned to H-l Highway Business. The intent of the H-l Highway 10 Business
District is to allow for uses that minimize traffic, vehicular access, and facilitate
orderly transition of the corridor while allowing the property owners the ability to
utilize their property for economic benefit until such time as the U. S. Highway 10
transportation system improvements are initiated.
Any land use applications for new construction, additions or remodeling
on properties located in this H -1 District are subj ect to a review by the Planning
Commission and approval of the City Council. In the event the City Council finds
that the application does not meet the intent of the H-l District, the Council may
deny the application. The Official Map ordinance provides that there shall be an
Official Map Board of Appeals established for the purpose of reviewing appeals
to land use applications that are denied by the City Council.
The City of Ramsey is currently seel(ing nominees to serve on the on the
City's Official Map Board of Appeals. This Board shall consist of 5 members (1
Planning Commissioner and 4 Ramsey residents and/or business owners). Ramsey
residents or business owners interested in serving on this Board may request an
application by contacting Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager, at Ramsey
Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 or
by calling 763-433-9821.

RAMSEY HAPpy DAYS
P ARADE GRAND MARSHALS
ANNOUNCED!

This years' grand marshals will be Bill and Kelly Casey, outstanding
volunteers in our community.
