In 2004, we saw
the construction of the PACT Charter School and the NAU Insurance
Building as well as a multitude of infrastructure improvements. This
year, there will continue to be major infrastructure improvements within
the area. However, it will be during this upcoming construction season
that citizens will see significant construction ofbuildings within the Ramsey
Town Center for the first time. Below is a brief summary of the some of
the development projects that will take place in the Ramsey Town Center.
Coborn's Retail Development
The Cobom's Grocery Store building, as well as three other retail
buildings have begun construction. The Coborn's store will be
approximately 70,000 square feet and besides selling groceries, will contain
a pharmacy, a liquor store operation, a convenience gas station operation,
and movie rental area. All of these will be contained in the building.
Cobom's expects to be open by Thanksgiving 2005. The details of the
other stores are as follows.
Gateway Building will be 12,000 sq. ft. and be located along
Sunwood Drive near Armstrong Blvd. The building could have up to 7
tenants.
Pond Building will be 9,200 square feet and be located next to
the Coborn's Grocery Store and Armstrong Blvd. The building is
anticipating to have up to four restaurant /coffee shop tenants. There will
be an outside seating area for this building that will overlook the stormwater
pond.
Corner Retail Building will be 13,000 sq. ft. and is located at
the corner of Sunwood Drive and Zeolite Street and is planned to have
five tenant spaces.
Restaurant Pad Building is proposed to be approximately 5,000
square feet and will be located at the entrance on the parking lot along
Sunwood Drive. There is no specific tenant or building design at this
point.
Ramsey Municipal Center /Parking Facility:
An official groundbreaking was held on June 1, 2005 for the
City's new Municipal Center (see groundbreaking story).
Continued on Page 2
GROUNDBREAKING HELD
FOR NEW RAMSEY
MuMcw&i CENTER
From left to right: Councilmember Cook, Councilmember
Strommen, Councilmember Olson, Mayor Gamec,
Councilmember Jeffrey, Councilmember Elvig, and
Councilmember Pearson
Groundbreaking was held on June 1" and
construction will begin soon at the site of the new
Ramsey Municipal Center. City Council authorized
the construction contracts at their regular meeting
of May 24th and issued the bonds for the project,
providing the needed authorizations and funding to
move the project forward to construction phase.
Updates will be provided throughout the
construction in the newsletter as well as on the city's
website.
