Vibratory plowing for root graft disruption continues
to be the most important control strategy; removal of spore producing
trees [SPT] and potential spore producing trees [PSPT] within the
primary protection plow line is a necessary adjunct for controlling
Oak Wilt.
Program Guidelines
To participate in the Oak Wilt Suppression Program, a
homeowner needs to complete an application and pay a $50 entry
fee. This fee pays for cost share of forester consultation, choice of
control plan option A or B described below, and eligibility for cost
share for control implementation.
Plan A Vibratory Plowing with 3 Years
Re- Inspection - Primary and secondary plow lines installed, with
3 annual prepaid inspections to detect future wilting of infected trees.
Plan B Vibratory Plowing with Treat- to -the-
Line (removal or injection) —After vibratory plowing, remove all
healthy but potentially susceptible (non - symptomatic or symptomatic)
oaks of same species as infected oaks [either Red /Pin or White/
Bur Oak groups] within the primary plowed line, prior to sporulation.
Cost Sharing Guidelines
Plan A
• Vibratory plowing, removal of diseased trees, and
a 3 -year re- inspection program. Participants
utilizing Plan A would be eligible for 50% percent
of the cost, up to $500.00, for vibratory plowing to
disrupt grafted root systems and for 50% of the
cost, up to $500.00, for removal of oak wilt diseased
trees within the plow lines, plus up to $120.00 for
the 3 pre -paid annual inspections, which is half of
the cost for 3 inspections. Cost sharing for year 2
and year 3 tree removals will depend on program
funding availability.
Continued on Page 14
Free advice generally costs more than the other kind. — Anonymous
2005 SPRING
RECYCLING
Day RECAP
AN0KA Coin
CAR SEAT CLINIcs
13
The Spring Recycling Day was another great
success with 250 residents in attendance!
