WWW.CI.RAMSEY.MN.Us.MARlApR2005.VOLUME20.No. 2 <br /> <br />RAMSEY WANTS YOU! <br />ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY BOARD <br /> <br /> <br />DESIGN FOR THE NEW MUNICIPAL CENTER <br />IS NEARING COMPLETION, CITY COUNCIL <br />TO CONSIDER AUTHORIZING <br />THE PROJECT IN MARCH <br /> <br />Design for the new Municipal Center is nearing completion <br />and the project will be ready for the bidding process in mid April. <br />During the City Council's regular meeting of January 25th, staff <br />was directed to proceed with the Municipal Center project on the <br />Ramsey Town Center site and to mal(e a formal request to the <br />Economic Development Authority to initiate the bonding process <br />for a lease revenue bond to fund the project. The site plan for the <br />Municipal Center project has been approved by the Planning <br />Commission and the City Council; the City Council will need to <br />formally authorize the bid letting and the bonding prior to the proj ect <br />moving forward. The estimated project costs are $16,500,000; <br />the lease revenue bond that would be issued to fund the project <br />would be paid over a period of20 years. The new 68,000 square <br />foot facility would feature community meeting space, Police <br />facilities including minimal detention facilities for the processing <br />of minor offenses, Council chambers, and office space to <br />accommodate staffing for the future of the community. If you have questions <br />regarding the project, please contact Heidi Nelson at 763-433- <br />9817 or hnelson@ci.ramsey.mn.us. <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey is lool<ing for residents <br />who would lil<e to review, consider, initiate, and <br />recommend to the City Council such policies, plans <br />or projects which will enhance and preserve the <br />natural environment of the City. <br />The primary objective of the Environmental <br />Policy Board is dealing with matters of the preservation <br />of the community forest, water quality, wetland <br />preservation, ground water protection, ecological <br />preservation, control of soil erosion, and air, noise <br />and light pollution. The Environmental Policy Board <br />will meet once each month; additional meetings as <br />required. <br />To be considered for a seat on the <br />Environmental Policy Board please call 763-576-4301 <br />to request an application or visit www.ci.ramsey.mn.us <br />(see employment tab). The application deadline is <br />March 25, 2005. <br /> <br /> <br />SPRING W ATERMAIN <br />FLUSHING IN APRIL <br /> <br />The Public Works Department will be doing <br />their semi-annual flushing ofwatermains and hydrants <br />beginning Monday, April 11 th through Friday, April <br />22nd. Please be aware that this flushing, while it is <br />necessary, will create a disturbance in the system and <br />may cause your water to be discolored. Although the <br />water may be discolored by rust, it is fit for human <br />consumption but it may stain clothes that are being <br />washed. To alleviate this problem, you may want to <br />fill your washer with water and check on its clarity <br />before adding your clothes. We appreciate your <br />patience and regret any inconvenience that this may <br />cause. <br />
