ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY BOARD DESIGN FOR THE NEW MUNICIPAL CENTER IS NEARING COMPLETION, CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER AUTHORIZING THE PROJECT IN MARCH Design for the new Municipal Center is nearing completion and the project will be ready for the bidding process in mid April. During the City Council's regular meeting of January 25th, staff was directed to proceed with the Municipal Center project on the Ramsey Town Center site and to mal(e a formal request to the Economic Development Authority to initiate the bonding process for a lease revenue bond to fund the project. The site plan for the Municipal Center project has been approved by the Planning Commission and the City Council; the City Council will need to formally authorize the bid letting and the bonding prior to the proj ect moving forward. The estimated project costs are $16,500,000; the lease revenue bond that would be issued to fund the project would be paid over a period of20 years. The new 68,000 square foot facility would feature community meeting space, Police facilities including minimal detention facilities for the processing of minor offenses, Council chambers, and office space to accommodate staffing for the future of the community. The City of Ramsey is lool<ing for residents who would lil<e to review, consider, initiate, and recommend to the City Council such policies, plans or projects which will enhance and preserve the natural environment of the City. The primary objective of the Environmental Policy Board is dealing with matters of the preservation of the community forest, water quality, wetland preservation, ground water protection, ecological preservation, control of soil erosion, and air, noise and light pollution. The Environmental Policy Board will meet once each month; additional meetings as required. SPRING W ATERMAIN FLUSHING IN APRIL The Public Works Department will be doing their semi-annual flushing ofwatermains and hydrants beginning Monday, April 11 th through Friday, April 22nd. Please be aware that this flushing, while it is necessary, will create a disturbance in the system and may cause your water to be discolored. Although the water may be discolored by rust, it is fit for human consumption but it may stain clothes that are being washed. To alleviate this problem, you may want to fill your washer with water and check on its clarity before adding your clothes.
