9 COMPOST BIN DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM Anoka County, in conjunction with the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board (SWMCB), will again be distributing compost bins. The Anoka County event will be held at the Columbia Ice Arena in Fridley, Thursday, April 28, 2005, from 2:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Cost of the bin is $30.00 (includes tax) which is paid when you pick up your bin. In addition to the Columbia Ice Arena, there are six other picl(up dates/sites in the metro area. Information is listed on: www.GreenGuardian.com You will receive a confirmation postcard a week or two prior to the event. Bins must be picl(ed up the day of the event. Effective February 1 st 2005 the City of Ramsey insurance classification is being reduced. Ramsey has a split rating, the urban area, within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant has been classified as a 6. The rural area, beyond 1000 feet of a hydrant has been classified as a 9. In mid 2004, the City of Ramsey underwent an evaluation of its fire protection service through the ISO (Insurance Service Offices). The procedure included analyzing fire department equipment, maintenance procedures, response guidelines, training, and response history. The city's water utility was also evaluated, including capacities and maintenance procedures. Effective February 1 st 2005, the urban area is lowered to a class 5 with the rural area at a class 7, within a 5 mile driving radius from the nearest fire station. This could mean reduced insurance costs. Call your insurance agent and make sure they have heard the good news. ATTENTION: PARENTS OF SECOND AND THIRD GRADERS Getting a little tired of the tricks that Mother Nature is playing this winter? It's time to start thinl(ing about summer fun and making plans for your kids! The Ramsey Kid's Safety Camp is a great place to start the summer out safely. Members of the Ramsey Police & Fire Departments are excited to cosponsor the 4th annual Kids Safety Camp on June 21-22, 2005. Through a variety of fun activities, professionals teach l(ids how to be safe and mal(e good choices every day. Our courses change every year to address as many unintentional injury areas as possible, so repeat attendance is encouraged. Camp is limited to 120 children and will be filled on a first come basis. A registration fee of $25.00 includes activities, supplies, snacks and lunches, bike helmet, T- shirt, hat, family barbeque and awards ceremony. Limited scholarships are available.
