<br />3 <br /> <br />RAMSEY'S 2005 t~~_PLY,o. <br />OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER <' I::~{.,d" :~ <br />9 I~'" ~ <br />JAN POMEROy";j.~;~~.t <br /> <br />Congratulations to Jan Pomeroy, this years' outstanding <br />volunteer and Ramsey Happy Days Parade Grand Marshal! Jan <br />and her husband George have lived in Ramsey for over 18 years. <br />Over the years, Jan has volunteered at Ramsey Elementary with the <br />annual Open House and Ramsey's Safety Camp, assisted with <br />Ramsey's Environmental Festival, served on Ramsey's PTA, <br />represented children and families on AH boundary committees, and <br />she's a neighborhood Blocl( Watch Captain which also means <br />organizing an annual NNO party for her neighborhood. She is a member <br />of Grace Lutheran and serves on several ministry teams. In addition <br />to these activities, Jan was coordinator for Andover, Anoka, Ramsey <br />Youth First for almost 11 years. She recently graduated from Bethel <br />University and now is employed at Anoka Ramsey Community College. <br />In the last several years she has served her community by <br />sitting on several community boards, including the Anoka County <br />Children and Family Council, Anoka County Healthy Start, Anoka <br />County Violence Alliance, Anoka County Tobacco Free, Anoka County <br />Safe Kids, and Vice President of Mediation Services for Anoka County. <br />Cumulatively it adds up to over 30 years of volunteering. <br />Thank you Jan, for all you have done for the Ramsey <br />community! <br />If you would like to nominate someone for next year's award <br />please contact Heidi Nelson at 763-433-9817. <br /> <br />CERTIFICATION OF DELINQUENT <br />SERVICE BILLINGS <br /> <br />Ramsey City Ordinances and Minnesota Statutes allow for <br />the annual certification of delinquent service billings, which may include <br />water, sewer, street lighting, recycling, storm water, penalties incurred, <br />and any other types of service billings that are unpaid as of September <br />1, 2005. Failure to pay would result in the entire past-due amount <br />being assessed against the property, payable with property taxes <br />payable in 2006. An administrative fee plus interest will be charged. <br />Notices will be mailed to service addresses with delinquent <br />billings the first weel( of September notifying the property of the <br />delinquent billing and what will take place. A public hearing to address <br />unpaid service billings will be held on September 27,2005, at Ramsey <br />Fire Station Number 1- 15050 Armstrong Boulevard, Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br />To avoid receipt of a notice of delinquent service billings, <br />payments for utility billings must be received by Connexus Energy by <br />September 1, 2005. Other delinquencies should be paid directly to the <br />City of Ramsey and must be received by September 1,2005. <br />If you have questions regarding this process, please contact <br />Sandy Carlson, Assistant Finance Officer, at 763-576-4302. <br /> <br />NEW FOR <br />THIS YEAR'S <br />IlAPpy DAYS FESTIVAL <br /> <br />New this year the Ramsey Women of <br />Today will be hosting Bingo at the Happy Days <br />Festival on Saturday, September 17th from 4:30 - <br />7:00 pm in the Fire Station located at City Hall. <br />Come join the fun and play for some great prizes <br />donated by our local businesses. Cards will be <br />.25 ~ each. <br />We have also added some new l(id's <br />entertainment. Take a look at the schedule for all <br />the new events at this year's Happy Days <br />Festival. . <br />See you there! <br /> <br />PLEASE NOTE: <br />ALL HAPPY DAYS <br />REGISTRATION FORMS <br />CAN BE FOUND ON THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />WEBSITE AT <br />WWW.CI.RAMSEY.MN.US <br /> <br />INSTALLING A <br />FENCE OR SHED? <br /> <br />Thinl(ing about some last minute yard <br />improvements before winter? Please keep in mind <br />that a zoning permit is now required for certain <br />structures to ensure they are placed within the <br />allowed setbacl(s, at the proper height and <br />constructed of proper materials. This would <br />include, but not necessarily be limited to, fences <br />that are six (6) feet or less in height, sheds that <br />are 120 square feet or less in size, swimming pools <br />or spas that are less than 5,000 gallons, and certain <br />driveways.
