Development ~ Ramsey Town Center Update Progress in the Ramsey Town Center project continues to occur. The residential units approved in 2005 have started construction. A total of 386 housing units were approved and over 200,000 square feet of commercial/retail/office space was approved and/or constructed in 2005. The Ramsey Office Plaza, a three story, 50,000 square foot office/retail building began construc- tion in February and is expected to be completed by this summer. The city also expects that the Asissi Restaurant/Nightclub will begin con- struction later this year as well. Both of these buildings are in or near the Ramsey Town Center "core". The city is also planning on mal(ing some additional improvements in the "core" area with the Village Square parl( across from the new municipal center. It is hoped that planning for the parl( will be completed this year and initial construction will begin in the fall. The Ramsey Municipal Center is scheduled to be completed in October. The first phase of the municipal parl(ing ramp adjacent to the Ramsey Municipal Center will be completed in June and will provide free parking for shoppers and resi- dents. Contract Awarded for the Northwest Sanitary Sewer and Watermain Extension At their February 28, 2006 meeting, the Ramsey City Council awarded the bid for construction of Project 03-20, the Northwest Sewer and Watermain Extension, to LaTour Construction of Maple Lake. LaTour submitted the lowest bid of the four bids received and has successfully completed sewer construction proj- ects over the past 30-years. The Northwest Sanitary Sewer and Watermain Extension project extends from Sunfish Lake Boulevard to the St. Anthony Gun Club property, and involves the con- struction of underground sewer pipes within existing right-of-way and sewer easements acquired from prop- erty owners within the project area. The watermain portion of the project is starting on Highway 47 and includes connection to Armstrong Blvd and County Road 116 via 167th Avenue NW, Nowthen Boulevard, 166th Avenue NW, Variolite Street and 157th Avenue NW Please refer to the city website at www.ci.ram- sey.mn. us for maps of the proj ect. Before actual construction of the sewer can begin, the more than one-hundred year old ditch must be cleaned. Much of the sanitary sewer construction will follow the existing ditch alignment, and fall within wet- land areas. Project Schedule The following time line provides a best estimate regarding when proj- ect activities will begin and end. It is important to note that weather condi- tions may impact the project schedule. Additional updates will be provided throughout the construction process. Week of March 13-(60-70 days) Ditch cleaning Week of March 20-Fall Watermain construction will begin near the southeast corner of Elmcrest Park at TH47, proceeding north to the intersection at Quicksilver/167th Ave. and continue to the west. Week of April 17-Fall Dewatering activities; sanitary sewer construction will begin near Sunfish Lal(e Blvd and proceed to the northwest to the St Anthony Gun Club The project area extends across a large enough area that you will not see continuous construction activities every day. In fact, there will be times when it may appear nothing is being done because the Contractor is work- ing in another area of the project. Other Noise and dust can be expected as part of the project; the city will do everything possible to minimize inconveniences to property owners. Your patience is greatly appreciated!
