CC Regular Session Meeting Date: Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: 05/26/2026 Improve the safety and mobility of transportation corridors. Title: Authorize the Application for Federal Funding for the Mississippi Skyway Pedestrian Bridge 5. 4. Purpose/Background: The purpose of this case is to acknowledge that staff is proceeding with the application for Federal funding for the Mississippi Skyway as was discussed with Council at the February loth work session —which may include up to $10k in consulting engineering technical support from the 2026 General Fund operating budget. A summary of the proposed project includes the notation that the city has received many different sources of funding to date, including $3.75 million in state transportation monies towards the final design and construction of this project, with these funds available through June of 2028. The Regional Solicitation for these Federal funds is open now through June 25th 2026, thus the timing of this case and the authorization to apply for funding. Ramsey will be applying for approximately, $5M in construction funding to supplement the $3.75M mentioned above. Funding Source: Funding for the application for Federal funding would come from the established parks & recreation General Fund operating budget in an amount of less than $10k for varied consulting services. Recommendation: Staff recommends applying for funding for the Mississippi Skyway and the use of consulting engineering services this case approves.
