COMMISSION BUSINESS <br />Case #1: Review Existing Comprehensive Plan <br />Civil Engineer Linton stated the City is beginning the process to update the Comprehensive Plan <br />in 2008. The Park Commission is asked to review the existing Comprehensive Plan. <br />Chairperson Johns thought they needed to go through the goals and status. She wondered if they <br />needed to strengthen them. She thought they were meeting the policies. <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood thought they might want to add some examples of what <br />they wanted to do for goals within the Comprehensive Plan. <br />Chairperson Johns stated a part of their future plan is to look at and revisit Sunfish Lake <br />planning. She listed some other goals they had planned for the future. <br />Chairperson Johns noted they were working on the Master Trail plan. <br />Commissioner Olds arrived at 6:51 p.m. <br />Chairperson Johns stated they met regarding the Mississippi river with Anoka County in <br />December. She noted they want to develop a trail system along the river. <br />Chairperson Johns thought Ramsey has been a leader in trying to make trail connections with the <br />County and Anoka. <br />Chairperson Johns reviewed other items they have worked on for the new Commissioners. <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated there was also discussion of greenways and <br />identifying what they were along with wetland buffering. <br />Chairperson Johns stated she would like to move the community center further up on the list. <br />Commissioner Olds did not think the items listed in the report were in any particular order, just a <br />list of what needed to be done. <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood thought they should organize the projects in order of how <br />they want them done. <br />Chairperson Johns wondered if there was anything they needed to concentrate on when reviewing <br />the Comprehensive Plan for additions. <br />Civil Engineer II Linton stated if the Commission thinks of something during the year, make a <br />note and give it to him. <br />Park and Recreation Commission/May 11, 2006 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
