2. Increase the minhnum acreage required to apply for an' Accessory Structure Home <br /> Occupation Permit <br />.~. Remove welding as a prohibited use <br />4. Increase the number of non-related employees allowed in relation to parcel size increase. <br /> <br />Staff obtained a copy of Brainerd's Home Occupation Permit and discussed the ordinance with <br />their City Planner. Brainerd does not allow for businesses to be operated in an accessory <br />buildings, they only allow one non-resident employee, and the ordinance does not provide a list <br />of permitted and non-permitted uses. Home Extended Businesses are handled tl~rough a <br />conditional use permit process in Brainerd and in order to be approved they rnust be "clearly <br />incidental and secondary to the residential use of the premises; shall not produce light, glare, <br />noise, odor, or vibration perceptible beyond the boundaries of the premises." The,Brainerd City <br />Planner stated that their Home Occupation Ordinance is outdated and causes more confusion <br />rather than providing for good criteria for approving a businesses operation in a residential home. <br /> <br />Orl May 1st the Planning Commission directed staff to amend the draft ordinance to increase the <br />minimum acreage requirements for Accessory Structure Home Occupatiorf Permits. The revised <br />ordinance proposes to require residents to own a mirfimum of (3) three acres in order to apply for <br />an Accessory Structure Home Occupation Permit. <br /> <br />At the request of the Planning Commission, "welding" was removed from_Subd. 4( c ). <br /> <br />Per the Commission's request, the following table is an attempt to allow for an increase in the <br />number of non-resident employees allowed to participate in the business operation based on <br />parcel size. - .......... <br /> <br /> Acreage :: ..4 · ::!'?:i'-: .:-'..' .':.
