PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />PROPOSED TREE PRESERVATION ORDINANCE <br />By: Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As you lcnow, last year the City Council formed an Envirm~nental Policy Task Force <br />EPTF) to draft a tree preservation ordinance for the City. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />The EPTF held a joint meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission and the <br />Planning Commission on March 20, 2003 to review the preliminary draft ordinance. The <br />final draft is enclosed,fbr your review and information. The ordinance establishes some <br />minimum performance standards as far as tree preservation and replacement for new <br />development. It also includes some enforcement tools to address diseased and/or <br />hazardous trees on private property. <br /> <br />A copy of the draft March 20, 2003 joint meeting minutes are also enclosed for <br />inforrnation purposes. <br /> <br />Members of the EPTF will be present on June 5 to assistlin Present~tfi°n ~ the Pi-°poSed <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />Recommendations: <br /> <br />Forward the proposed ordinance to City Council for adoption. <br /> <br />Commission Action: <br /> <br />Motion by and seconded by <br />the City Council adopt the proposed tree preservation ordinance. <br /> <br />to. recomrnend that <br /> <br />Review Checldist: <br /> <br />City Attorney <br />Community Development Assistant <br /> <br />PC: 06/05/03 <br /> <br />Copy To: <br />EPTF <br /> <br />325 <br /> <br /> <br />
