Councihnember Cook inquired if three deciduous trees and four coniferous trees was enough <br />diversity. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon noted that a City staff member with a background in urban forestry <br />~'eviewed the plan and diversity did not come up as a concern. <br /> <br />Pau Kangas, Loucks Associates, explained that there are five deciduous trees listed, which <br />would all be suited for the environment and four coniferous trees. He stated that they could <br />expand the list if it becomes an issue, but they tried to select the hardiest ,trees for the <br />envirorm-tent. <br /> <br />Counci]member Cook inquired if the boulevard trees are going to be a different species and if <br />they would be more salt tolerant. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon explained that two of the proposed trees are resistant to salt spray, <br />which is important. <br /> <br />Coul~cilmember Cool,: noted that he ,,vas not disagreeing with what was being proposed, he just <br />wan ted more inl'ormation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen inquired if there were enough under story trees being proposed in the <br />density transition area. <br /> <br />Prh~,cipa[ Planner Trudgeon explained that the proposed number of under story trees is below <br />what is required in the density transition area, but there are some swaths of trees that are going to <br />be saved as part of the development, lie explained that staff has reviewed the information <br />they felt that even though the number of under story trees wasn't represented as indicated in City <br />Code, staff was comfortable with what was being proposed. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to approve the final site <br />plan for the Village of Sunfish Lake subject to compliance with City staff review letter dated <br />April 18; 2003, rezoning the parcel to PUD, approval of the final plat, arid the Developer entering <br />into the Development Permit and that the developer receive a conditional use permit to import <br />soils. <br /> <br />Motion cnn'led. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilnaembers Cook, Pearson, and Elvig. <br />VotingNo: Cour~cihnembers Strommen, and Zimmerman. Abstained: CouncilrnemberKurak. <br /> <br />Case #5: <br /> <br />Adopt Ordinance to Rezone Property fi'om R-1 Single Family Residential to <br />Planned Unit Development (The Village of Sunfish Lake) Case of LTR Land <br />Development, LLC <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon stated that on February 25, 2003, the City. Council adopted Findings <br />of Fact and introduced an ordinance to rezone land being developed as the Village of Sunfish <br />Lake from R-I Single Family to Planned Unit Development (PUD).
