Suecial Events Permit Survey
Staff asked the following cities what they require with regard to special
events/outdoor music festivals -and what is the chare:e?
City of Anoka No response at time of this writing.

City of Andover No permits required; however, the City Clerk is
interested in seeing what permitting process Ramsey
uses as she feels some of their events should be
made to go through a permitting process. I have not
heard back from Andover SInce I asked more
specifically about outdoor music.

City of Blaine Outdoor mUSIC permits are gIVen out by the
Community Development Department and are
conditional use permits versus a special events
permit. It is a regular CUP application for a fee of
$400. The time for the music to end is based on a
case-by-case basis - as certain locations may be
feasible for allowing the music to go on later. Each
condition of the permit is spelled out. If a tent( s) is
erected for the event, there is also a tent permit
required with a fee of $50. Parade permits are
separate and are given out by the Park & Recreation
Department.

City of Coon Rapids The only special events permit required by the City
of Coon Rapids is for parking on public property
which was specifically to address car shows. I have
not heard back yet with regard to outdoor music.
City of Ham Lake The permits given out are for Field Parties and
Large Assemblies. Field Parties are defined as
gatherings of 50 or more persons outside after dark
where alcohol is being served; the charge is $30.
Large Assemblies are gatherings of 1,000 or more
persons expected to continue for eight or more
consecutive hours; the permit fee is $100. The
Administrator from Ham Lake assumed a music
festival would fall under the Large Assembly
permitting process, however, they've never had an
event of this type, . therefore, do not have an
application for such.
