14199jasper St NW • Ramsey, MN 55303 Public Works Facility 763.433.9839 www„cityoframsey.com Hydrant Meter Lease Agreement The City of Ramsey makes hydrant meter available for contractors performing work within the city limits as a courtesy and to protect the City's water distribution system from misuse. Contractors seeking to lease a City of Ramsey hydrant meter must accept the following terms and conditions as a condition of leasing this equipment. 1. Contractors shall under no circumstances transport water out of City limits. 2. Hydrant meter rental includes the meter and hydrant wrench. An administrative fee ($100), a weekly rental fee ($35.00), and the cost of total water used per 1,000 gallons at Tier 6 rate ($5.78/1,000 gallons) will be charged. 3. Upon completion of the work described in your permit packet, the Contractor shall promptly notify and return the hydrant meter and (wrench) to the City in good working condition. Ordinary wear and tear excepted. 4. Meters may be leased only for the duration of the project or six (6) months, whichever is less. If the project for which the meter was rented takes more than six (6) months, the contractor shall return the meter to the City at the end of each six (6) month period. If the contractor has complied with all of the requirements of this agreement, a new meter may be leased. 5. Improper operation of fire hydrants can cause severe damage to the City's water system and surrounding properties. By leasing and using a hydrant meter, the contractor agrees to fully compensate the City and/or other parties for all damages arising from or related to contractors use of the hydrant meter. 6. Contractors shall operate the fire hydrants and hydrant meters properly, including but not limited to the following: • Fire hydrants must be fully opened and closed slowly to prevent water system damage • Fire hydrants may be operated only with a hydrant wrench • The contractor shall use a back flow device at all times 7. Contractors shall disconnect hydrant meters from hydrant when not in use. At no time will the contractor leave a hydrant meter unattended or overnight while attached to the hydrant. 8. It is the responsibility of the contractor to secure the meter in a way as to prevent theft. 9. The City reserves the right to recall the meter in times that water supplies are low. 10. Contractor must not alter the meter or backflow preventer in any way. Lost or stolen meters, as well as any damage to hydrants, equipment or other property must be reported to the City immediately. The contractor will compensate the city for all costs related to repairs and or replacement of damaged equipment. lithe meter is damaged, the cost of repairs or replacement will be deducted from the deposit. 11. In freezing weather, the contractor shall close the hydrant and drain the meter to prevent damage when not in use. 12. The City reserves the right to not rent a hydrant meter to any contractor or other persons who has mis- used a hydrant meter, fire hydrant, or has previously violated the terms of conditions of this agreement.
