Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #26-174 <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION OF COMMUNITY ART RESOURCE <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey City Council and the Park & Recreation Commission recognize the <br />importance of parks, trails, and public places, together with beautiful, meaningful, engaging built <br />environments as essential to the quality of life for Ramsey residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's strategic plan calls for to `Strengthen and enhance our identity, <br />brand and image'; and <br />WHEREAS, Community Art, accessible within the public realm brings forth these <br />favorable qualities, enhances our sense of place and facilitates community engagement; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Community Foundation's vision and mission statements mirror <br />the City's goals as it relates to civic engagement, aspirations for an attractive community and social <br />wellbeing and belonging —made possible through accessible public art where people live; and. <br />WHEREAS, MN State Statute 465.03 requires that a city pass a resolution that accepts <br />any donations including the generous contribution of the Community Art Resource, fully funded <br />by the Ramsey Community Foundation. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br />That, the Council hereby accepts the donation of a Community Art Resource valued in excess of <br />$8,000 from the Ramsey Community Foundation, and as recommended by the Park & Recreation <br />Commission on January 9th, 2025; and <br />That, the Community Art Plan may be consulted regularly following adoption of this Resolution <br />by both city leadership and residents, inspire on -going community engagement in place -making <br />and beautification, establish worthy public art goals, and identify potential community -oriented art <br />projects in the City; and <br />That, nothing in the Community Art Plan would point to the requirement that art in the public <br />realm would necessarily be solely publicly funded —and the art plan does list funding opportunities <br />from non -municipal sources, including potential fund-raising by the Foundation. <br />RESOLUTION #26-174 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
