7. 6. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: <br />07/28/2026 <br />Title: <br />Adopt Ordinance #26-14 Authorizing Salary Increase for Mayor and City Council <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to introduce an ordinance increasing the salaries of the Mayor & City Council. The last increase <br />occurred in 2005. Staff compiled data from 34 cities with populations ranging from approximately 15,000 - 50,000 people. <br />The median pay for City Council members is $8,700, the average is $9,035 with Ramsey currently at $6,000. For the Mayor <br />the median was $12,000, average is $11,732 with Ramsey currently at $8,000. The proposed ordinance would increase the <br />City Council salary to $10,000 and Mayor to $12,000. <br />Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: <br />If adopted, state law requires any increase to City Council pay to take effect following the next election.
