City of <br />RAMSEY <br />14199 Jasper St NW • Ramsey, MN 55303 <br />Public Works Facility 763.433.9839 <br />www.cityoframsey.com <br />Hydrant Meter Rental Agreement <br />The City of Ramsey rents hydrant meters to contractors performing work within the city limits as a courtesy and <br />to protect the City's water distribution system from misuse. Contractors seeking to rent a City of Ramsey <br />hydrant meter must accept the following terms and conditions as a condition of renting this equipment. <br />1. Contractors shall under no circumstances transport water out of City limits. <br />2. Hydrant meter rental includes the meter and hydrant wrench. An administrative fee ($100), a weekly <br />rental fee ($35), and the cost of total water used per 1,000 gallons at Tier 6 rate will be charged. <br />3. Upon completion of work, Contractor shall promptly return the hydrant meter (and wrench) to the City in <br />good working condition. Ordinary wear and tear excepted. <br />4. Meters may be rented for up to six (6) months. If the project for which the meter was rented takes more <br />than six (6) months, the contractor shall return the meter to the City at the end of each six (6) month <br />period. If the contractor has complied with all of the requirements of this agreement, a new meter may <br />be rented. <br />5. Improper operation of fire hydrants can cause severe damage to the City's water system and surrounding <br />properties. By renting and using a hydrant meter, the contractor agrees to fully compensate the City <br />and/or other parties for all damages arising from or related to contractors use of the hydrant meter. <br />6. Contractors shall operate the fire hydrant and hydrant meters properly, including but not limited to the <br />following: <br />• Fire hydrants must be fully opened and closed slowly to prevent water system damage <br />• Fire hydrants may be operated only with a hydrant wrench <br />• The contractor shall use a back flow device at all times <br />7. Contractors shall disconnect hydrant meters from hydrant when not in use. At no time will the contractor <br />leave a hydrant meter unattended or overnight while attached to the hydrant. <br />8. It is the responsibility of the contractor to secure the meter in a way as to prevent theft. <br />9. The City reserves the right to recall the meter in times that water supplies are low. <br />10. Contractor must not alter the meter or backflow preventer in any way. Lost or stolen meters, as well as <br />any damage to hydrants, equipment or other property must be reported to the City immediately. The <br />contractor will compensate the city for all costs related to repairs and or replacement of damaged <br />equipment. If the meter is damaged, the cost of repairs or replacement will be deducted from the deposit. <br />11. In freezing weather, the contractor shall close the hydrant and drain the meter to prevent damage when <br />not in use. <br />12. The City reserves the right to not rent a hydrant meter to any contractor or other persons who has mis- <br />used a hydrant meter, fire hydrant, or has previously violated the terms of conditions of this agreement. <br />Itis our mission to work together to responsibly grow our community, and to provide quality, cost-effecdve and effldentgovernment <br />services. <br />
