CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />08/10/2026 <br />7. 4. <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Enhance City's communication through transparency and accountability. <br />Title: <br />Adopt Ordinance #26-15 Amending Chapter 22 - Fire Prevention and Protection <br />Purpose/Background: <br />This ordinance amends Chapter 22, Fire Prevention and Protection, of the Ramsey City Code to adopt the current Minnesota <br />State Fire Code as adopted by the State of Minnesota. The City's existing ordinance currently references the 2007 Minnesota <br />State Fire Code, which is outdated and two code editions behind the current state -adopted code. Updating the ordinance <br />ensures the City Code remains consistent with current Minnesota law and the standards enforced by the Minnesota State Fire <br />Marshal. <br />Notification: <br />This ordinance amendment has been processed through the City's standard ordinance review process. The item has been <br />included on the published City Council agenda, and the ordinance summary will be published following adoption in <br />accordance with applicable Minnesota law. <br />Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: <br />The ordinance will take effect following adoption by the City Council and publication in accordance with Minnesota law. <br />Funding Source: <br />There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this ordinance amendment. The proposed update is administrative in nature <br />and will be implemented using existing departmental resources. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the ordinance amending Chapter 22, Fire Prevention and Protection, of the <br />Ramsey City Code.
