Motion by Councilmember Hendfiksen, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to recommend <br />that the City Council include the area of C.R. #116 east of T.H. #47 in the C.R. #116 corridor <br />study. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak, and Zimmerman. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #5: Consider Initiating Action on the Vacating of Certain Streets <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that staff has reviewed the City street system and has determined <br />that three dedicated public streets serve not existing or future public purpose for roadway. Staff <br />recommended that an ordinance be prepared vacating those streets. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen inquired if any of the roadways paved. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski replied yes, explaining that if the road were vacated the pavement <br />would be removed and restored to a turf. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen recommended notifying the property owners within some distance <br />and hold a public hearing to see if there is a reason not to vacate the roads. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Public Works Committee was to schedule a public hearing. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br /> <br />1. Update of Extension of Sound Wall on T.H. #47 <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that he did send a letter to MnDOT in regards to funding of the <br />sound wall and he received a response back requesting an amount of Federal funds that has been <br />spent on the project to date. The information will be submitted to MnDOT. <br /> <br />2. Update on County Road #116 Corridor Study <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that he would be contacting the Anoka County Public Works <br />Committee to be on their agenda. <br /> <br />3. Private Road vs. Public Streets <br /> <br />City Engineer Olson inquired as to what the next step should be regarding the issue. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendhksen inquired if Chapter 9 permitted private streets. <br /> <br />City Engineer Olson replied no, but noted that the City has allowed for some private streets to be <br />constructed. <br /> <br />Public Works Committee/July 16, 2001 <br /> Page 12 of 13 <br /> <br /> <br />
