Councilmember Kurak inquired if they would need to work with Andover on identifying where
the river crossing would be located.

City Administrator Norman recommended that the Community Development Department
research the issue and report back to the Committee.

Consensus of the Committee was to bring the issue back.

Councilmember Anderson noted that she was not opposed to looking into a bridge crossing, but
she does not wan the City to specifically identify the Boy Scout camp. She felt they needed to
look at the big picture.

2) Alpine Drive Update

City Engineer Jankowski updated the Committee as to the status of the roads opening. He
explained that the road should be ready for opening at the end of September or beginning of
October and inquired if there should be some type of ceremony for the official opening.

Consensus of the Committee was to hold a noon ribbon cutting ceremony during the week.

Mayor Gamec noted that he had driven along the road and noticed that there was a lot of dead
brush. He inquired if there was something that staff could do to clean it up.

Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that he would have staff go through and look
at the City easement to make sure there is no dead brush left behind. He noted that some of the
brush might be located on private property and they would not be able to do anything with that.

3) C.R. #116 Update

City Engineer Jankowski stated that they have received three proposals on the C.R. #116 study
and staff will be meeting with City of Anoka and County Engineer to review the proposals. A
recommendation will be brought forward at the next Council meeting.

Councilmember Kurak inquired if the County had any plans to improve Sunwood Drive.

City Engineer Jankowski replied no.

Councilmember Zimmennan stated that the City of Ramsey always gets put aside when it comes
to the County.

Mayor Gamec suggested that the City discuss the issue of roads at the joint meeting with Anoka
County. He stated that the only way he sees the issue improving with the County is if they
improve their road maintenance budget.

Public Works Committee/September 18, 2001
Page 4 of 5
