Facsimile Machine The addition of a plain paper fax machine was included in the 1998 budget at an estimated price of $2,000. With the addition of the Fire Chief/Director of Public Works position, this piece of equipment has become more important at the public works facility. This purchase also impacts the installation of a computer for the new position. The installation has not been completed hoping that when we order the modem line for the computer that we could also order the fax line at the same time, knowing that the equipment will be available upon connection. Staff is requesting authorization to purchase a plain paper fax machine, similar to the machine purchased in 1997, for the police department, and authorization to have the necessary phone lines installed. POLICE A total of $33,000 is included in the 1998 budget for the purchase of a 4X4 type vehicle. This vehicle can be purchased from the Hennepin County Cooperative Purchasing venture through Superior Ford. This four-wheel drive vehicle would be purchased with its primary funding source being the proceeds from the sale of the DARE house. At this time, there is no immediate need to proceed with this purchase unless we are informed by the vendor that the end of the order period is approaching.
