£CCAS # 5 <br /> <br /> AUTHORIZE CONTRACT FOR <br /> SNOW PLOWING OF CUL DE SAC ROUTE <br /> William K. Goodrich, City Attorney <br />Linda Waite Smith, Administrative Services Manager <br />Grant Riemer, Public Works Streets Supervisor <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Public Works Department recently advertised for proposals to provide staff and <br />equipment for plowing of cul de sacs during the upcoming winter months. Five proposals <br />were received and evaluated by the Public Works Director and Public Works Streets <br />Supervisor. They are recommending that the City enter into a contract with Kelly's <br />Landscaping to provide cul de sac plowing services. Kelly's is recommended for several <br />reasons: <br /> - hourly rate of $50 per hour; <br /> - the age of the firm's equipment; <br /> - the dedication of certain equipment to the City contract; <br /> - the availability of back up equipment in the event of a breakdown; <br /> - the availability of communications devices, including pagers and radios <br /> in all vehicles. <br /> <br />Attorney Goodrich has drafted an agreement that includes a financial penalty if plowing <br />is not completed in a timely manner. Staff is requesting authorization to enter into the <br />agreement with representatives of Kelly's Landscaping. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br />Recommend that City Council authorize the mayor and city administrator to enter into an <br />agreement with Kelly's Landscaping for cul de sac plowing during the 1998-99 snow <br />season, at a cost of $50 per hour. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Administrative Services Manager <br />City Attorney <br />Public Works Streets Supervisor <br /> <br />Also distributed to: <br />Public Works Director <br /> <br />FC: 11/10/98 <br /> <br /> <br />
