FC CAS # <br /> <br />REPORT ON STAFF CONTACT WITH LANDOWNERS <br />FOR CITY PROPERTY ACQUISITION <br /> By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On May 12, 1998, City Council authorized staff to contact property owners of three sites to <br />ascertain their interest in selling land for City use. The following are those areas, the purpose <br />and result. <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Community Park #5 Site <br />The purpose and result is dealt within the preceding case. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />35 Acres East of Central Park <br />The purpose is to expand Central Park for additional active use space and to provide for a <br />wooded picnic area. Contact with the owner resulted in an agreement on the amount and <br />terms of a sale to the City. Approval to prepare a purchase agreement will be sought <br />from City Council following the expected adoption of the Five Year Capital <br />Improvements Program later this month. <br /> <br />3) Parcels South and Southeast of City Hall <br /> City Council requested these owners be contacted to determine their plans or interest in <br /> selling property. The discussion relative to purpose was: <br /> -- The land in combination with the adjoining municipal property could be used for <br /> community park space if the two desired acquisitions above were not available. <br /> -- Potential community center site if combined with the adjoining municipal center <br /> holding. <br /> -- Provide for street routing through this land to allow access if either of the above <br /> occurred, or if some other development transpired using municipal property. <br />A verbal report on the landowners response will be available at the meeting. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Based upon discussion. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />Copies also distributed to: <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor <br />City Administrator <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Director of Public Works <br /> <br />FC: 12/08/98 <br /> <br />jo/LandAcq.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
