Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #26-182 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING RIVERDALE PARK PLAYGROUND <br />RENOVATION AND REPLACEMENT <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey City Council and the Park & Recreation Commission recognizes the <br />importance of Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation to the quality of life for Ramsey residents; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Neighborhood Parks and their playgrounds are essential areas for play and <br />creative and cognitive expression, as well as the positive physical development of children; and <br />WHEREAS, while Riverdale Park's play equipment has served the community for more <br />than three -decades, it however, has surpassed its useful life, with many components worn and <br />outdated and no longer meets the caliber or appearance of play features befitting the park and <br />merits replacement; and <br />WHEREAS, renovation and reinvestment in existing parks represents a commitment and <br />service to residents throughout the City, and supports favorable property values and sustaining, <br />desirable neighborhoods, and <br />WHEREAS, the Park & Recreation Commission conducted an analysis of the City' s <br />playgrounds, and finds renovation and replacement of the playground at Riverdale Park the highest <br />priority and in keeping with the intent and goals of the Playground Replacement Policy; and <br />WHEREAS, the Park & Recreation Commission developed a detailed plan to renovate the <br />playground at Riverdale Park for 2026 and on August 13th, 2026 recommended to City Council <br />the implementation of the associated Capital Improvement Project. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br />That, up to one hundred and twenty-five thousand ($125,000), are hereby allocated from the <br />Lawful Gambling Improvement Fund, for the purchase and installation of play equipment and <br />related improvements, and further to direct staff to implement the park improvements <br />recommended by the Park & Recreation Commission on August 13th, 2026; and <br />That, the existing play equipment within Riverdale Park be declared surplus property and that staff <br />is hereby directed to dispose of it in the most fiscally responsible manner possible. Further, that if <br />any components are sold, purchasers must sign a liability waiver, absolving the City from any <br />liability. <br />RESOLUTION #26-182 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
