Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #26-184 <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN AWARDED DRINKING WATER PROTECTION <br />GRANT FOR WELL #7 FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey owns and maintains a municipal water supply system, <br />which is essential to the quality of life, health and welfare of City residents and businesses; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey currently relies on groundwater as the sole source of its <br />municipal water supply system; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to pull Well #7, replace the defective check <br />valve, de -rate the well, replace submersible well motor and reinstall the well; and <br />WHEREAS, the primary goal of the MDH is to assist public water suppliers to protect the <br />source of drinking water and enter into this Grant Agreement under Minnesota Statues 144.05, <br />144.0742 and 114D.50 Clean Water Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, the total cost of the required repairs to Well # 7 is $48,800 in which $19,250 <br />is the grant eligible portion and the City of Ramsey must provide a fifty percent match of $9,625; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, to accept the grant funds, the City of Ramsey must enter into a Water <br />Protection Grant Agreement with the Department of Health. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br />1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the Director of Public Works to sign <br />the grant agreement with the Department of Health and accepts the $9,625 Water <br />Protection Grant allocation for Well #7. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />
