Councilmember Olson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #26-184 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN AWARDED DRINKING WATER PROTECTION GRANT FOR WELL #7 FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey owns and maintains a municipal water supply system, which is essential to the quality of life, health and welfare of City residents and businesses; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey currently relies on groundwater as the sole source of its municipal water supply system; and WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to pull Well #7, replace the defective check valve, de-rate the well, replace submersible well motor and reinstall the well; and WHEREAS, the primary goal of the MDH is to assist public water suppliers to protect the source of drinking water and enter into this Grant Agreement under Minnesota Statues 144.05, 144.0742 and 114D.50 Clean Water Fund; and WHEREAS, the total cost of the required repairs to Well # 7 is $48,800 in which $19,250 is the grant eligible portion and the City of Ramsey must provide a fifty percent match of $9,625; and WHEREAS, to accept the grant funds, the City of Ramsey must enter into a Water Protection Grant Agreement with the Department of Health. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the Director of Public Works to sign the grant agreement with the Department of Health and accepts the $9,625 Water Protection Grant allocation for Well #7. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Riley, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Heineman Councilmember Olson Councilmember Riley Councilmember Buscher Councilmember Specht Councilmember Stewart
