<br />C,.CJ <br /> <br />Councilmember <br /> <br />introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #07-03-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE' OF MINNESOTA TO MODIFY <br />MINNESOTA STATUTE 169.14 SUBD. 2 CLAUSE 1 AND 7(C) TO ALLOW CITIES TO <br />ESTABLISH 30 MPH SPEED LIMITS IN RURAL RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 169.14 Subd. 2 Clause 1 sets the maximum speed limit <br />as 30 MPH in an urban district or on a town road in a rural residential district; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey finds that in the interest of public safety, that a speed <br />limit of 30 MPH should also be established in cities that have rural residential districts. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> <br />1) That the State of Minnesota modify Minnesota Statute 169.14 Subd. 2 Clause 1 and 7(C) <br />to be modified as follows: <br />· 169.14 Subd. 2 Clause (1) - 30 miles per hours in an urban district or on a town or <br />City street in a rural residential district. <br />· 169.14 Subd. 2 Clause 7@ - For the purposes of this subdivision.
