C,.CJ Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #07-03-XXX RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE' OF MINNESOTA TO MODIFY MINNESOTA STATUTE 169.14 SUBD. 2 CLAUSE 1 AND 7(C) TO ALLOW CITIES TO ESTABLISH 30 MPH SPEED LIMITS IN RURAL RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS. WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 169.14 Subd. 2 Clause 1 sets the maximum speed limit as 30 MPH in an urban district or on a town road in a rural residential district; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey finds that in the interest of public safety, that a speed limit of 30 MPH should also be established in cities that have rural residential districts. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1) That the State of Minnesota modify Minnesota Statute 169.14 Subd. 2 Clause 1 and 7(C) to be modified as follows: · 169.14 Subd. 2 Clause (1) - 30 miles per hours in an urban district or on a town or City street in a rural residential district. · 169.14 Subd. 2 Clause 7@ - For the purposes of this subdivision. "rural residential district" means the territory contiguous to and including any town road or City street within a subdivision or part of land that is built up with dwelling houses at interval of less than 300 feet for a distance of one quarter mile or more.
