<br />"\. <br /> <br />Ramsey EPB Case 3 Mar 3, 2007 <br />Open Space Referendum Info Update <br /> <br />Andover 2006 Referendum <br /> <br />Talked with Jim Dickenson who is the City Administrator <br /> <br />Started working on referendum in early 2006 . <br />Completed a Community Survey in early 200tpy Decision Resources (400 <br />households) <br />Large survey that included questions about Open Space <br />Key question was how much would residents pay per household for Open Space <br />The average came out to $211average household <br />This worked out to the $2M. <br />Survey predicted a 66-67% Yes vote for not to exceed $2M referendum <br />Task Force put together to create Ballot Question <br />The referendum was to preserve natural areas, water and air quality and wildlife <br />habitat through purchase or easements <br />One Public Hearing was held in the early September of2006 in conjunction with <br />obtaining approval from City Council <br />Created a F AQ sheet that was placed in city newsletter prior to election (see <br />attachment) . . . <br />The Trust for Public Land/Enibrace Open Space organizations created a one time <br />mailing to get the Yes vote oui .' . <br /> <br />Referendum passed with a 54% Yes vote <br /> <br />Creating a commission to over see the program in mid 2007 <br /> <br />Cost per average household would be $21 or less/year for 15 years <br /> <br />Levy will go into effect in 2008 <br /> <br />Total effort to get ballot in election was less than $1 OK <br /> <br />2 <br />
