own. At the least the EDA could facilitate some better communication and provide the <br />businesses with a better ability to prepare. <br />Member Elvig indicated he agrees with the concerns. He explained the community states there <br />should not be one more business or house until the roads are fixed, and to do that requires <br />removing entrances to make the roads more efficient. The businesses ask for more rooftops and <br />want better infrastructure to get there, and there are also people asking for whistle fee zones <br />which requires 150 feet of un- crossable medians. This is a huge conundrum. He suggested the <br />EDA may need to be more targeted in informing the businesses that will be hurt by the medians. <br />The Board discussed the challenges that will face businesses due to medians, and whether there <br />is a role the EDA can play to notify business owners of the median impacts that will be coming. <br />Member Elvig left the meeting at 9:13 a.m. <br />Case #4: Ramsey Presentation <br />Community Development Director Trudgeon provided a presentation on the Ramsey project, <br />including the following information: <br />$50,000 grant received from the McKnight Foundation <br />Ramsey Steering Committee <br />Three components of Ramsey <br />o Forums <br />➢ Regional Intersections: Keynote Speaker: Dan Marckel, CURA <br />University of Minnesota <br />➢ Community Ecology: Keynote Speaker: Douglas Farr, Farr and <br />Associates, Chicago, IL <br />➢ Innovative Zoning: Farr and Associates, Chicago, IL <br />➢ Transportation Alternatives: Dan Burden, Glatting Jackson/Walkable <br />communities, Orlando, FL <br />• Open Space Technology <br />• Implementation process <br />Commissioner Schindel asked how the Ramsey project will be funded after the $50,000 grant is <br />expended. Community Development Director Trudgeon replied the budget includes completing <br />the process with the $50,000.
