8. Ms. DiMenna replied she does not know. This would be a question for Harry. In her tenure
at PDI in public sector work, the people have been there for years. Harry has built a
reputation. He helped bring someone on to a city that is now retiring. Harry has a real
continuity with the municipalities.
9. Ms. DiMenna commented Ramsey is a huge growth city with a lot on their plate. She asked
what the Council would describe as the challenge of someone coming in and working
internally. Mayor Gamec replied team effort is very important, not only within the
organization, but part of the city is bringing things together. There are development efforts,
economic development and transportation, and this is really a major position of blending
everything together. This has been a difficult thing; growth is fantastic, but it creates a lot of
challenges.
Councilmember Elvig asked if Harry would be the individual working on this account.
Ms. DiMenna replied yes, Harry runs the public sector business, and he would be the lead.
Harry is a hands -on person. He has created all these processes, and his work in public sector is
well published around the country. He is a very dynamic man and has a lot of relationships.
Harry brings public sector alive at PDI because he does it so well.
Closing Comments from Mayor
Mayor Gamec thanked Ms. DiMenna for her time. He indicated the Council will try to make a
decision tonight.
Ms. DiMenna requested the Council to contact Harry with any questions.
Mayor Gamec asked if PDI placed the current Blaine city manager.
Ms. DiMenna replied she believes he was placed by Harry.
Mercer Group
Introduction by Mayor
Mayor Gamec explained the interview process, which will include a presentation by the
executive search firm and prepared questions from the Council.
Presentation
Roy Pederson of Mercer Group provided a brief presentation on the company and the company's
interest in conducting a city manager /administrator search for the City of Ramsey.
1. Mr. Pederson stated he has been involved in about one dozen searches for managers for small
and large cities. He would be the point person and Mr. Mercer would be the project
manager. Tuscon is the largest city where he placed a city manager a couple of years ago.
City Council Work Session / February 6, 2007
Page 8 of 14
