PUBLIC HEARING
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Board of Adjustment conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, October 6, 1998, at
the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota, to hear input
regarding a request for a variance to enlarge a non-conforming accessory structure located nearer
to the front property line than the principal structure; case of Lawrence and Sherrie Thole.

Members Present:

Chairperson Benjamin Deemer
Board Member Leo Anderson
Board Member Sharon Jensen
Board Member Charles LaDue
Board Member Joe Wivoda

Members Absent:

Board Member David Bawden

Also Present:

Community Development Director Cindy Sherman
Community Development Assistant Sean Walther

CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson Deemer called the public hearing to order at 7:06 p.m.

PRESENTATION

Community Development Director Sherman explained the applicant is requesting to expand an
existing detached garage which was on the property prior to their purchasing the lot. During the
past year the garage sustained damage. The applicant prefers to reconstruct the garage at a larger
size. She stated a site visit revealed that there are a substantial amount of ponds and wetlands on
the site limiting the ability to place the garage in a different location. The present site is the best
location for the garage after the variance process. Staff recommends approval of the application.

CITIZEN INPUT

There was none.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Board Member Wivoda, seconded by Board Member Jensen, to dose the public
hearing at 7:08 p.m.

Public Hearing/Board of Adjustment/October 6, 1998
Page 1 of 2
