Fire Chief Kapler stated this can absolutely work. A communications tower on a fire station is
acceptable to the people aroUlld it, probably mote so than other properties. The big thing to keep .
in mind is that a fire station bas to operate every hour of every day. He would ask for flexibility
for when there is maintenance to be done at the tower that fire staff would be contacted., and to
be sure none of the routes in and out of this property are hindered. Mr. Kapler stated fire stations
should be a source of pride for the community, and he would like input on the maintenance and
the access, whether it is paved or cl~s 5, it should look neat and well kept.

Councilmember Jeffrey stated he agrees with Fire Chief Kapler's concerns. He asked whether
an agreement could be worked out that would allow shared access that would not conflict with
the business ofT -Mobile for the use of public safety, emergency response radios or wi-fi.

Mr. Steven Edwards, T-Mobile, stated this tower will replace T-Mobile's other tower in the City.
T-Mobile is proposing the additional height to help reach the loss they are having in their
coverage area from moving the site further to the north. As far as additional capacity on the
tower, they have not ordered the tower or the foundation, and it ,is wide open right now.

Mayor Gamec requested clarification that there will not be conflictwith the City's radio system.

Fire Chief Kapler replied with the installation of the County tower the City was informed that
being next to ~ electric subs~tion and towers of this type causes no interference to the 800
system.

Councihnember Jeffrey stated this is twofold. If the City has an antenna to mount for the .
community's purpose this is the perfect location. Secondly, wireless internet may run into -
conflict with T -Mobile, but they may want to discuss an easement type of situation being
negotiated.

Mr. Steven replied this should be able to be worked out in the lease agreement.

Mayor Gamec suggested the permit b~ approved contingent on a lease agreement being worked
out.

Community Development Director Trudgeon indicated this can be discussed with the lease
agreement, which will come back before the Council. He would not recommend the permit be
contingent on the lease agreement.-

Councihnember Look asked whether the class 5 entrance will be paved.

Mr. Stevens replied the entrance can be paved, but the use will be very light, with possibly a
minivan visiting the site once per month.

Councilmember Look commented the paving would be more of an aesthetic question.

Fire Chief Kapler stated the aesthetics are a concern to him. The fire station should be a source
of pride and should be kept up. He would like to discuss T-Mobile driving on the surface that is

.

City Connell!
