CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, February 10, 1998, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. and <br />Councilmember Zimmerman led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec introduced City Administrator Jim Norman to the public and summarized his <br />career prior to becoming Ramsey's City Administrator. He also commended Administrative <br />Services Manager Waite Smith for the job she did as Acting City Administrator and commended <br />all City staff for sharing in the extra duties. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Gwen Simpson, 15952 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, stated that she appeared before the <br />Planning Commission to request a conditional use permit to allow a duplex in a single family <br />zoned district. She purchased a home on Nowthen Boulevard which is a two-story home with a <br />complete kitchen on each floor, two bedrooms per floor, etc. The property is vacant and she was <br />hoping to be able to rent out both floors. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen suggested that staff will check into some background information <br />on this home and Council will discuss Ms. Simpson's request at the February 24, 1998 Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Terry Hendriksen, 15631 Ramsey Boulevard NW, Ramsey, asked to speak to Case #2 at the time <br />it will be discussed. He stated that he had been invited to speak at a Sensible Land Use Coalition <br />as was former Ramsey City Administrator Ryan Schroeder, and Bill Scheiber and Dressel <br />Peterson. Mr. Hendriksen reported that Mr. Schroeder presented a history of what has gone on in <br />the City of Ramsey and he (Hendriksen) presented a review of Charter amendments. Mr. <br />Schriber gave a talk on regional planning. Dressel Peterson commented on legalities of Charter <br /> <br />City Council/February 10, 1998 <br /> Page 2 of 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
