CASE # 1 <br />CONSIDER PARK ACQUISITION FROM DAVE SMITH <br />By: Leonard Linton, Civil Engineer <br />Background: <br />The City extended Alpine Drive from Variolite Street to Armstrong Boulevard several years <br />ago. The street bisected several properties near the west end of the project. David Smith <br />subsequently re-platted his property as the Smith Addition. The City retained a drainage and <br />utility easement over all of Block 2 which is south and east of Alpine Drive. The azea is lower <br />than the adjacent road and portions of the site are wetlands. Recently, Mr. Smith approached <br />the City about removing [he drainage and utility easement so that he could build on the lot. <br />The City is not willing to remove [he easement and suggested [he parcels might be acquired by <br />the City for park uses. The area could be used as an overlook azea along the trail. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff requests authorization to begin negotiations with Mr. Smith for acquisition of the pazcels <br />fox park purposes. <br />Commission Action: <br />Motion to authorize negotiations with Mr. Smith for acquisition of the pazcels. <br />Reviewed by: Copies to: <br />Director Public Works/Principal Engineer David Smith <br />Pazks/Utilities Supervisor <br />P&R: 04/12/07 <br />
