Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to introduce the
ordinance authorizing the sale of certain City-owned property located in the City of Ramsey -
AEC Energy Park Third Addition.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen, Beyer, Beahen and
Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT

1) Community Center Study

Mayor Gamec suggested a committee should be formed to begin a study for a community center.

Councilmember Haas Steffen felt that may be a bit premature as the comprehensive plan is still
in process.

Mayor Gamec felt it was not premature as the study process is normally quite lengthy.

2) Youth First

Mayor Gamec stated he attended a meeting regarding Youth First and they are looking at
forming a group of mayors and councilmembers to meet to discuss concerns of the area cities.
For example, T.H. #47 traffic with regard to St. Francis and Oak Grove could be discussed,

Councilmember Haas Steffen thought the group was just looking for action pertaining to Youth
First issues. She proposed that Ramsey Council should put pressure on the Northwest Mayors
Association to look at the bridge.

Mayor Gamec stated that we are trying to get other mayors involved. Traffic is a concern - the
mayor of Oak Grove is concerned about traffic.

Councilmember Haas Steffen felt these are two items - family and youth coordinated efforts and
the issue of transportation - two separate issue to be taken up with mayors. Youth First issues
relate to children.

3) Petition - Tungsten and 143rd

Councilmember Haas Steffen noted a petition that was received regarding traffic on Tungsten
and 143rd and she asked that this area be reviewed carefully - looking at alternatives to alleviate
these concerns.

City Engineer Jankowski stated he is aware of what the concerns are and he will meet with the
Director of Public Works and the Police Chief and report back to the Road and Bridge
Committee in April.

City Council/March 24, 1998
